Huskers Edge Richmond for MRVC East Lead

The Higginsville Huskers ended Richmond's 19 game winning streak Friday night with a 20-16 triumph over the defending class 3 state champs.

Higginsville's Cottry Lewis hauled in a 56 yard catch and run touchdown reception from DeShaun Thirkield inside of three minutes left in the fourth period for the go ahead touchdown.

The Spartans had a late drive stall at the Higginsville 8 yard line as a fourth down pass play fell incomplete.

With the win, Higginsville improves to 3-0 in the MRVC East and 4-1 overall.

Richmond falls to 4-1 on the season.
